Tools and resources for patients and their families
Below you will find tools and resources available free online, including for self-care. Self-care generally consists of information, practical exercises and various activities provided as written material, online software or mobile apps. Self-care can be completed by the person independently or with a counsellor’s occasional support (by email, online chat or telephone, etc.).

Website with information related to mental health and mental disorders. It also describes how to access services and find help and support.
Getting better my way
The “Getting better… my way” tool is a self-management tool designed to support people who are experiencing difficulties due to depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder by helping them regain their equilibrium and to feel good again, as well as to support them on their personal path to recovery.
My Tools
Web app for people experiencing psychological distress and likely to have suicidal thoughts when confronted with a stressful situation. It is also possible to talk to a counsellor on the phone, by text or online chat.
Anxiety Canada
This web app was developed by Anxiety Canada, a non-profit charitable organization, to promote access to resources and evidence-based treatments. The tools offered target problems related to worry, panic, perfectionism, social anxiety and phobias. Online courses and a group therapy program are also available.
BounceBack
BounceBack® is a free program provided by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). This self-care is designed to help adults and youth aged 14 and up manage low mood, depression, anxiety and stress or worry. Working with workbooks and a trained coach to guide you, BounceBack® can help you build skills to improve your mental health.
Cap santé mentale
Cap santé mentale is designed for those living with a person with a mental health issue (depression, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorder and others). Various tools and resources (articles, videos, podcasts, etc.) to deal with a family member’s mental health issues.
Phobies-Zéro (in French only)
Phobies-Zéro is a national community organisation helping youth and adults suffering from an anxiety disorder, and their families and loved ones. Virtual and in person support group are offered in 14 areas of Québec, as well as self-care workshops, conferences, and a helpline.
Relief
Relief is a national organization that provides support for people experiencing anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder, as well as their families. Relief offers individual support, online self-management workshops, group workshops and support groups.
Mouvement santé mentale Québec (MSMQ) (in French only)
The MSMQ is a group of Quebec community organizations dedicated specifically to mental health promotion and prevention. You can find a variety of tools on the site (posters, flyers, activity sheets, webinars, presentations and more) designed for the general public, for youth and seniors, and for workplaces.
Managing depression
Self-care manual about which strategies work best in managing depression, for individuals feeling depressed, and their partners, families and friends who wish to help. Audios files are also available.
Tools and resources for youth
The Respire Campaign: Don't let your stress have the last word!
This campaign is designed for youth between 6 and 17 as well as their parents and professionals. Its primary aim is to raise public awareness of questions about anxiety, stress and hyperconnectivity, and also to promote positive mental health and a healthy use of screens.
The wellbeing toolbox from the Centre RBC d'expertise universitaire (in French only)
This toolbox contains tools designed to encourage children, teens and young adults to take care of their mental health. It also provides teachers, principals and caregivers with tools to promote the wellbeing of young people.
Youth in Mind Foundation
The Youth in Mind Foundation prevents psychological distress in youth from 11 to 18 thanks to its programs that raise awareness. Our foundation works for the youth of Québec and the people around them.
