Saint-Jérôme and Saint-Eustache Cancer Centres

The Saint-Jérôme and Saint-Eustache Cancer Centres are true centres of interdisciplinary excellence in the fight against cancer for the population of the Lower Laurentians. They provide access to quality care and services for people with cancer and their caregivers.

The hematology-oncology clinics in the cancer centres look after people with cancer or blood diseases. They bring together a team of healthcare professionals including nurses, oncology pivot nurses, hematologist-oncologists, nutritionists, pharmacists, social workers and psychologists to:

  • Inform patients about their illness.
  • Provide the care and services required by their condition.
  • Educate them about their condition.
  • Provide support to patients, their families and their loved ones throughout the course of their care.

All medical appointments are held at the hematology-oncology clinics, both for follow-up and for treatment.

A pivot nurse acts as a key resource in the evaluation of needs presented by patients. Starting with the investigation/diagnosis phase, they play a central role in answering questions and passing on information. A team of professionals is closely associated with the oncology and palliative care clinic to respond to various needs. It is called upon by referral from the oncology pivot nurse or the hematologist-oncologist.
